I did not recognize this beautiful Aechmea. So I photographed it and e-mailed to my wife asking her to send it to three experts for a quick ID. Dr. Eric Gouda of the University of Utrecht came back the next morning with,
"It is a little bit difficult to recognize its size, but I suppose it is a not very large Aechmea? It would be Aechmea tillandsioides".
At a time like this I can truly appreciate what a wonderful world we live in!
