World Sights We Have Visited

Travel by Car in the U.S.
Sauny and I visited our friends around the country
with a 29 day travel by car.
Wales
Sauny and I visited our friends, Warwick and Irene Butler, outside Cardiff,
in Pontypridd. They were very hospitable and took us to some of the sights which I photographed and
bring to you here!
If you get chance to go, do it!
I was privileged to go on a "Plant Adventure" run by Steven Guiness and
Scott Joffe. It was a wonderful trip. We visited a number of places and, I believe, got a pretty
good picture of the country of Belize.
We did some collecting but tried to make it a "rescue"
type mission. I'm hoping to send a complete set of the plants I got to a proper herbarium.
I finally found my mother's Norwegian home. It is now owned by a cousin, Jon
Preststulen. We are both grandsons of Hans Olsen but we have different grandmothers.
Ecuador
I had a marvellous opportunity to visit Ecuador. We spent four
days in eastern Ecuador on a tributary of the Amazon, two days on the high ground north of Quito and
four wonderful days at the Galapagos Islands.
Canada

Sauny and I took a wonderful little trip to Vancouver BC, then up into Banff
Park and the Columbia Ice Fields, then down to Waterton Lakes National Park, then Glacier National
Park and finally down to the States via Eugene OR to visit our son and his wife!
I went over to London in the middle of Sauny's teaching quarter and we went
to Vienna for a week.
On one of Sauny's teaching gigs in London, she visited Prague in the
mid-quarter vacation.
Sauny and I went to Australia, July 2003, to attend the wedding
of our daughter, Marit Marie Dills to Anthony Thompson
