SEA LAVENDER Plumbaginaceae
As all statices, long lasting flowers can be used fresh or dried. Broad green leaves form an attractive base for the purple flowers above. The flower itself is white and tiny, but the purple colored calyx is the "permanent" part which remains after the "flower" is dried. This perennial is easily grown on the Central Coast and is particularly adapted to seaside gardens. L. perezii will freeze. Can be grown as an annual in cold areas.
