Native to Cape Province, South Africa.
Strap-shaped leaves are in two opposite rows, suggesting open fans. Lives in the mountains of the Cape Peninsula. Reaches 3 to 5 feet in ten years. Ultimately 10 to 15 feet. Flowers are a loose raceme of 20 to 30 two inch scarlet flowers.
