This hybrid is an introduction from the old Rancho Santa Ana in Orange County. The original F1 is probably no longer in existence. Plants have been grown from seeds.
Salvia clevelandii, the Cleveland Sage, grows from middle to western San Diego County into Baja CA. Salvia leucophylla, the Purple Sage, grows from San Luis Obispo County to Orange County.
