"Vriesea minor: Formerly considered as to a variety of V. bituminosa it has recently raised to species level by Elton Leme (1996). It is endemic to Minas Gerais state, Brazil. The photo was taken in January 1995 near Tombador where it grows on flat rocky outcrops."
