"Aechmea burle-marxii: A native of Minas Gerais state, Brazil. Originally described as a member of subgenus Ortgiesia and later transferred to the genus Ortgiesia by Smith and Kress (1989), it actually belongs to subgenus Aechmea and is related to Ae. lingulata. The photo was taken by me in Elton Leme's collection in August 1997."
