Tillandsia setacea
Tillandsia setacea (Ken Marks)
"This picture was taken of a mass of Tillandsia setacea growing in the branches of an oak tree in central Florida. Also growing on the tree were a number of lichens (baton rouge, foliose, crustose, old man's beard) and even a few leafless orchids (Harrisella filiformis). This species of Tillandsia is less often found around developed areas of Florida and is more common in more swampy areas. Its common names include needle leaf wild pine and quill wild pine. The whole plant can take on a rusty color in full sunlight." Ken Marks
