My wife came up with this one. I was worried about the metal in the galvanized hardware cloth but I have to admit that the plants don't seem to mind it. (Copper is especially bad.) She bent the hardware cloth into a cylinder and stuffed it with green moss from a nursery! We have several of these, most mounted horizontally.
