To test the viability, I placed some moist potting mix in the bottom of a one gallon Ziplock plastic bag.
I scattered some seeds on top to see what would happen.
The next picture show the seedlings I got.
I recommend that you place the potting mix in some kind of long flat styrofoam dish such as you find under meat in a super market.
If you keep the ziplock bag tightly closed, it will not lose any water and you won't need to add any.
You can open it occasionally and blow into it.
I suspect the carbon dioxide in your breath may be helpful.It is my opinion that they can stay in this bag for a rather long time (months, easily), till they get plenty big enough to transplant safely.
DO NOT cover them.
You can push them into good contact, but you don't need to.It has been shown that, for some bromeliads seeds at least, light is necessary for germination.
