We need to recognize that when an individual has shown total disrespect and an unwillingness to abide by our laws, WE OWE THEM NOTHING! Our treatment of them should recognize that fact. So what can we do?
We should set aside a very large piece of good viable land. Not the kind of thing we did with "reservations" for the Indians. It should have good water and arable land. We should then "deport" these hopeless untrainable individuals to this area to fend for themselves. It would need to be surrounded by a high fence and then another fence some distance back. This area would lighted and outfitted with all the high tech devices needed to detect and repel incursions.
We could set up our military bases around the outer perimeter and use them on the guard towers. Any living thing between the fences would be detected and killed with no warning.
Since they could not live by our laws they would be placed in an area where they could make their own laws. We would not interfere. They could do what they wanted. Maybe they would begin to find out why we have laws! I have not been able to imagine a mechanism where an indivivual could be "re-patriated" if there was a "genuine" change of perspective.
They would be given certain things, like farm equipment and fuel. Seeds would be needed at least in the beginnng. They would be left to their own devices to grow crops or starve. They would grow cotton and make their own clothes. They would be a separate little country to treat each other as they like. Our laws would not apply. And if it were up to me there would be no publicity emanating from there. They would be cut-off and independent, just not able to leave or communicate!
This is of course a special case. They could be sent to Prisonia of course. But I would like to see a special setup for them that would afford them an opportunity to give something back to society.
I would create a special central facility for those under the death sentence. They would be given a six months' stay of execution. During this time they would be able to consult a bulletin board which announced discussion of projects that would benefit the public but would have a real risk involved. During this six months they could participate in these discussions and would be allowed to consider volunteering for one of them.
If they should volunteer for one of the projects and survived, their sentence would be commuted and they would be sent to Prisonia. If at the end of the six months they had not volunteered for one of these projects, then the original sentence would be carried out, immediately.
One large consideration however would be who decides what projects would qualify. There would have to be a panel of recognized experts that would judge whether or not projects submitted to them would be applicable. I would suspect that many of these projects could be in the medical area which could dramatically speed up the process of finding cures for societal problems.
I'm sure there are those that would think these ideas are not human. My reaction is, perhaps! But they are not designed for humans but for people that have forsaken their humanity. It is the only way they can give back something to the society they defiled.
