The Robert Lee Riffle Glossary
from his book
"The Tropical Look: An Encyclopedia of Dramatic Landscape Plants"

An Index to Words and Word Fragments of Interest to Bromeliophiles

Last updated on

Bob Riffle has kindly consented to allowing me to place his extensive glossary in this file. It is a listing of words and word fragments that are used to construct many of the names we encounter in bromeliads. For example, Acanthostachys is made of two fragments, acantho- referring to thorns and -stachys referring to the inflorescence. In other words it's a thorny flower plant!

The only changes I'm making are designed to organize it by letter so it may come up faster on your machines.
If you have any comments to make, please tell me! His handle is Bob Riffle <71270.3070@compuserve.com>.
