Charles Everard Dills (2)
Charles Everard Dills (2) This was a wonderful present for Christmas, probably about 1928. I treasured it for years. It was exceedingly strong. I simply could not hurt it! What role it had in my becoming a pilot is unknown. I usually date that to Lindbergh. But I'm sure this had a role.
When I was seven, as Dad was getting ill. Uncle JC took me up in a barnstorming Ford Trimotor that had landed at the Lynch farm in southwest La Moure. I was entranced. I have a probably erroneous memory of JC holding my belt as I leaned out of the window (at perhaps 90 mph) and looked down at the cars that looked like ants
It cost2¢ a pound, a dollar minimum. I weighed 47 pounds and JC had to pay the minimum.
