At the end of my P-40 training at Sarasota FL, I was going to get a 10 day leave on route to the Port of Embarcation, Miami Beach.
I knew that I was heading for combat so I went into downtown Sarasota and had my "obituary" pictures taken just in case. This is one of the three.
It is my understanding that Aunt Lena, in Grand Forks, was going blind and it was not discovered until she had to ask someone whose picture it was.
