I had trouble finding their marriage license. I finally found it in Minneapolis MN!
There are a number of family stories that indicated that Daniel was engaged to a girl named Rosie when he met Marie. Her sister Sophie was always trying to get Marie into embarassing situations as a result and Daniel wouldn't make a decision. So I believe she got tired of his indecision and accepted a job in Minneapolis taking care of a rich family's home (a rather common practice in those days!).
He finally got off his duff and went down and got her.
I do remember someone telling me that they took a wedding trip along the Lake Superior north shore. She made him turn back because it reminded her too much of Norway! But remember this is my reconstruction, not fact!
