      Daniel Dills was born on 6 August 1817 in Camillus NY. He married Rebecca Ann Harsen on 16 March 1841. They had at least six children, George E., Charles Henry, Hellen E., John C., Annetta and Benjamin. I believe there was at least one other child.
      He died 25 July 1900 in Albert Lea MN and is buried in Graceland Cemetery there.
      He was at the Battle of Fort Ridgeley and in the Civil War. But he was mustered out early due to chronic dysentery.
I can't be positive that this is a picture of him, but it seems logical. This was taken from a daguerrotype on a pin which was probably carried by his wife while he was in the war. There is no one alive that can confirm this hypothesis.
