Emily (Dickinson)

          We've had Emily for more than a dozen years. We think she is probably about 15 now. She was aloof most of the time we had her. We had two other cats, Pushkin and Goldie, and she just wouldn't compete for our attention. Then we lost Pushkin and later we lost Goldie. She has become very attentive now but in a very quiet way. She will jump up on the sofa and lie quietly between us but is not at all aggressive about it.
          She seems to be showing signs of age. No pain. But we wonder a bit.
