Toby
Toby

This was a giant of a dog. We bought him at a kennel in Indiana. When he was big enough to ship they airmailed him to San Francisco and we picked him up in his crate at the San Francisco International Airport. On the side of the crate was a bag of dog biscuits with lettering on it saying "I'm a little Saint. Feed me please!"
We brought him back to Deep Springs College where I was teaching. He was funny looking till he was almost two years old, long legs, small body and big head. He would chase Mike, Mike would do a right angle turn and Toby's front legs would make it but the rear legs wouldn't cooperate and he would fall over on his side!
The Meekers loaned us an A-frame cottage on the Rogue River at Crater Lake. We went through Lassen Park on the way. We let Toby out in the snow and he ran with his nose in the snow, throwing streams of snow like a snowplow. I'm glad he didn't hit a covered rock.
This picture was taken at our home in San Luis Obispo CA. A neighbor, Jeff Sperlo, is standing behind him. When the children tried to ride him, he would just sit down. I think that's what has happened here.
We weighed Toby on the sheep scales at Poly. He weighed 185 pounds and you can see he was skinny!
