This was the home of Andrew and Lena Stjern near Grand Forks, North Dakota. Andrew is standing to the left of the picture with Lena sitting on the rocking chair with Oscar at her feet. Anna is sitting center and Marie is leaning on the post. It is believed the the man on the right with the bicycle is probably Claus Braseth.
"As for the date, given the fact that little Oscar was born in 1905 and he appears to be around 2 years old here, I'd guess the year was 1907-1908."
"Anna would not move in with Claus for many months after their marriage.
When she did, she brought her sister as a chaperone.
As Claus later told the story, one night when he could take it no longer, he finally threw the sister out in the middle of the night, bolted the door and "took his wife"! (Since I was about 10 when he told the story, I asked "where'd he take her?")" This quote is from Tim Braseth.
