Dioscorea macrostachya

Dioscorea macrostachya

This is the "Turtle Plant". In nature it is usually buried, but hobbyists lift it out of the sand so they can see its wonderful texture. When it gets water, it send out a stout vine. The stub in the foreground is last year's vine. The green one in the background is now climbing around the roof, thirteen feet above the plant. It has flowers, but I've never seen them. They are said to be inconspicuous. I believe it!
