Aechmea gamosepala

Here are two Aechmea gamosepalas side by side. The one on the left is the normal typical one. The one on the right is a descendant of a sport isolated by the head plantsman at the Huntington Garden, years ago.
His name was Adolph and that is why this one is called Aechmea gamosepala cv 'Adolph's White'. I have another called cv 'Adolph's Blue' which has not bloomed for me yet.

It is apparent that the cultivar is almost twice the size of the normal one.
I got them both from Bill Baker in Los Angeles.
