I lost the label, tried Derek's key but was still uncertain. So I sent him these pictures and he suggested Tillandsia carlsoniae. His identification did sound a little tentative though so I encourage anyone who has another idea to chime in!
Instead of a half dozen small blades it has two large ones!!?!!
