There is interest in the naming of this plant. Harry Luther at the Bromeliad Identification Center says it is a hybrid with Tillandsia concolor as one of the parents. It hasn't bloomed yet and I suppose that this evaluation might be modified somewhat when it does. since many flowering plants are difficult to pin down from vegetative parts alone.
I am obviously not a botanist. So I thought it might be interesting to place pictures of this plant side by side with Tillandsia concolor. Personally they look nothing alike to me, superficially.
I hope this comparison is of interest.
Should this plant warrant a new name, several of us have discussed it and are willing to propose that it's name should be Tillandsia 'Bronze Crown'.
