Andrew Flower sent this photo of a magnificent inflorescence. To me, this is one of the most beautiful ones I've ever seen. Most startlingly beautiful bromeliads have strong and contrasty colors, but this one is subtle, pastel!!
And from Joachim Saul, "You may want to mention on your page that the origin of the Ae drakeana is restricted to the region around Zamora in southeastern Ecuador. This is a region where many botanical "jewels" come from, many of which are endemic to that area."
