Vriesea lutheriana
Vriesea lutheriana (Tristram)
A Peter Tristram picture.
"Vr. lutheriana is named after Harry of course. I obtained the plant from my friend, Chester Skotak - the original plant was collected in southern Costa Rica and the description was published in the BSI journal in the May/June issue, 1992. It is very large - over 1 metre in diameter and has heavily grey-scaled, deep blue/green leaves. The inflorescence is stunning -dark green scape, bright orange/red bracts and pale blue flowers. It is easy to grow here with protection from hot summer sun and frost."
