"Alcantarea duarteana: Photo taken in January 1995 near Guinda, Minas Gerais state, Brazil. Formerly a member of a separate subgenus of Vriesea, it belongs now to the recently re-established Alcantarea. It is endemic to the Diamantina region in Minas Gerais state.'
