Vaga Church
Vaga Church

This church is very old. The first building was built as a small stave church about 1130. It was rebuilt about 1625-1630.

This church means a great deal to me since it is the reason I was able to find the Preststulens and the home my mother was born in.
When I was very young I used to enjoy going through a small stack of postcards my mother brought back when she visited her former home in Norway. The postcards are long lost but I remembered one from the late twenties that had a picture of this church, which I understood to be her homeland church. It had the name "Vaage" in the bottom right corner. This was the clue that eventually led me to the Preststulen family and the re-discovery of mother's Norwegian home.
